Customer Profile: Maoli Perfumes

Maoli Perfumes Maoli Perfumes hand make sweet smelling island-influenced fragrances. They have been using our GoSocial Store app to power their Facebook Store for a little while now. We caught up with Maoli Perfumes creative director Mari Hughes between crafting new batches to have a chat about her business and how they are using social media to reach new customers.

How did Maoli Perfumes come to be?

Maoli Perfumes Our family got started in Hawaii. Our kids were born and raised there during their first seven and six years of their lives. It would be an understatement to say they weren’t very happy when we had to move to the Pacific Northwest. One day they asked if they could “make their own cologne that smelled like sunshine”. They did and they loved it. People on the street, at the market and the ferry made sure to let us know they loved it as well, so we decided to start a business.

Do you sell exclusively online? Or do you have retail stores/distribution also?

We have our online shop and several shops through the US, Canada, Sweden, the UK, Malaysia and Australia. We are looking to expand our wholesale accounts and distribution channels as well.

Which social media channels have you been using to promote your store, and how have you been using these?

Maoli Chocolate Fragrance We have been using Facebook and Twitter. We post pictures, announcements and little tidbits of what goes around the workshop.

How are you measuring the success of your investment in social media?

Besides the orders we receive from special offers and announcements, we measure our success by the engagement of our customers with our posts. Although is very exciting to see the count number go up, it all comes down to how much you care and engage with your fans and customers.

Do you have any particular social media success stories that you can share?

One time we posted a picture of one of our pets on Twitter. Next thing we know our pet won the “Cute Pet of the Week” award by a very popular online magazine. We also got busy filling orders for a couple of days.

What made you decide that you wanted to have a Facebook store?

Maoli Orange Fragrance Social media is a very powerful thing, if done right. After truly enjoying all that Facebook has to offer to our business, it was only natural to also provide a complete glance of our product line to our fans and prospect fans.

How did you come across our GoSocial Store application?

We first found out about GoSocial by searching for ecommerce apps through Facebook. Later on we noticed our shopping cart provider offered GoSocial as an app as well. We signed up, of course.

What have you found most useful about the GoSocial Store so far?

We like the simple, clean yet efficient layout. Features like additional social sharing buttons, related products and complete product description are nice as well.
