Exclusive offers give your fans what they want
A significant amount of research has gone into what motivates people to become fans of businesses and brands on Facebook and other social networks. The most common answer is that people are looking for exclusive offers. Giving people exclusive offers on Facebook is what they are looking for. Here’s a quick sample of the research results that support this:- eMarketer found that nearly 80% of respondents mentioned the primary reason for interacting with brands on social networks was ‘to take advantage of special offers and discounts’.
- Econsultancy found that 70% of consumers surveyed followed brands to be notified of special offers.
- ExactTarget & CoTweet did a study that found 40% of consumers became fans in order to receive discounts and promotions.
but do these campaigns result in new customers coming into the store or just my existing customers?
@n00b Definitely – it is likely that your fans will be made up of a mixture of existing (active) customers, people who are interested and not yet customers, and those who have been customers in the past, but have not purchased from you in some time (inactive).
By running special offers for your fans you do reach existing active customers, but in addition you reach inactive customers, as well as completely new customers.
This is because as people participate in your offer it is spread to their friends.
